I met Johannes Lehmann at the Rillig Lab in Berlin, he is a researcher and teacher of soil biogeochemistry and soil fertility management in the Soil and Crops Department at Cornell University, NY. He specialises in the study of soil organic matter and nutrients in managed and natural ecosystems.
Our meeting around my "listening to the earth" project was fertile and gave birth to the scientific project "Sounds of Soil - tracking soil health for targeted pest control," in collaboration with Kyle Wickings, Holger Klinck, Greg McLaskey.
He invited me to work for 4 weeks in his department, where I will also give two lectures, a workshop and an exhibition. The residency is based on the projects Ecouter la terre and Vertimus.
There I developed new pieces from listening to earth samples in situ, created an installation from the national soils project and grew root systems with natural sounds given by the ornithology lab.
