The wind chimes were created during the artist's residency at Villa Saigon, a programme run by the French Institute.
The 25 moving pieces are installed on bamboo tripods from the province's conservatory, Bamboo Village. Each chime reproduces the shape of petals and composes a three-dimensional map of different neighbourhoods. Vibrating in the wind, sounds, shapes and colours come together to deliver a poetic and sensitive tribute to humans and plants – the true vegetal inhabitants of the southern capital.
The recordings of the thirteen participants, talking about their favourite flowers, can be listened to in the space using QR codes. Each story recounts a fond memory from childhood, a love story, family ties, or beloved places, and shows people's attachment to plants and trees that are closely linked to moments in their lives.
During a workshop, a small group carried out a step-by-step paper chromatography experiment using flowers and started learning how to model raw clay.
