The French artist Karine Bonneval, resident of the Secret Hotels Earthwise centre in Bogens, will be at the Malting House to present her work. Karine is working on the "Vertimus" project, which focuses on the plant complexity and on the interactions between humans and plants. What if we could hear the mushrooms grow? Or exchange breaths with the trees?

Guz is a headdress for a plant and a musician.
The Guzmania and Emmanuel Hubaut (Les Tétines Noires, Dead Sexy, Pest Modern) play together in a deliberately minimal set up, consisting of an electric guitar and some analogical effects.
Going to the end of anthropomorphisation, Plant me is a performance where the plant "speaks", in relation to Emmanuel's guitar improvisations, for an attempt at communication and hybridization tinged with irony.

A proposal from Karine Bonneval and the Studio Décalé

Inspired by the films on the movement of plants as they straighten up, Emilie Pouzet proposes a sensitive and sensory journey through the dance gesture. This workshop will be based on the observation-organization of the plant movement. In the meantime, it will be a question of exploring together different movement organizations in order to visit, taste and then activate a dance with and for plants. These notions and discoveries of movements in dialogue with the plant thus invite us to change our perceptions of the natural elements and decompartmentalize / open / widen our relationship with life.

Trained as a graphic designer and dancer, these practices have singularly enriched her field of research between the visual arts and dance. Émilie Pouzet develops performances, installations and videos that question the body and its possible paths of representation.

Conference bent in the wind: this reading is performed by Karen Houle, in an invitation to sink into the posture of a plant subjected to the elements. The reader and her audience must then adapt their position and listening to this unpublished text by the philosopher and poetess teacher in Guelph, Ontario. Plants move, plants use very specific skills and analyses of their environment to adapt. Together we will experience it through all our senses.

And the city becomes nature, landscape, wild again...
From Alphonse Daudet Wood'sTown's fantastic tale, in which a community of migrants to America tries to build a city between river and forest but quickly encounters the hostility and invasive power of nature, Cahors Juin Jardins 2019 proposes a new theme as an interrogation: Naturalities, the return to artifice? What is naturality today? A nature that emerges spontaneously? A dynamic process not thwarted by man? A primordial forest? A primitive state of the Environment without human influence? A concept of Wilderness* designating the landscape in a supposed natural state... Does it not rather designate the guilt of man who, seeing the impact of his actions on the planet and fearing the consequences, advocates a fantasized return to nature? Or rather a use of artifice?

I will present three times a tasting ritual around the pieces listen to the earth. A culinary performance realized in collaboration with Ingrid Paul, Jérome Moulinou and Claudine Boyer.

L’histoire de la céramique s’est constituée d’expressions et de techniques multiples à des époques et dans des pays divers. Ces savoirs parfois locaux, spécifiques, ont fait émerger des influences, l’intérêt pour des connaissances ensuite partagées. L’artisanat, la diffusion industrielle, l’usage qu‘en font les artistes indiquent des possibles, présentent un constat des champs couverts par cette pratique. La plateforme Céramique & Cie propose d’inviter trois artistes, une commissaire et auteur à présenter leurs pratiques, leurs analyses de contextes historiques et/ou contemporains mettant en évidence une sélection d’approches concernant l’art et la céramique.

10h « écouter la terre », par Karine Bonneval, artiste
C’est à La Rochelle que Karine Bonneval a cultivé son désir de comprendre, d’apprendre, de voir. Le cabinet de curiosité Lafaille du muséum d’histoire naturelle a nourri son imaginaire dès l’enfance.
Après des études à l’école des Beaux-Art d’Angoulème et à l’ESAD de Strasbourg, elle représentée depuis 2001 par la galerie Martine et Thibault de la Châtre à Paris.
Fascinée par les procédés vernaculaires qui de tout temps ont permis aux humains d’exprimer leur relation au monde qui les entoure, elle développe un vocabulaire né du « fait main » pour produire des pièces autour de nos comportements sociaux contemporains. Elle met en évidence un tribalisme propre à l’occident qui se révèle dans les rapports de force, de séduction, de contrôle de soi, de prise de pouvoir sur l’autre. En réalisant des objets auxquels elle donne une fonction rituelle elle montre les manifestations inconscientes de nos modes de vie.

11h15 «Jean Carriès (1855-1894), un jalon majeur dans l’histoire de la céramique», par Stéphanie Le Follic Hadida
Jean Carriès est dès la fin du XIXe siècle connu comme sculpteur et comme céramiste. En matière de sculpture, Carriès regarde du côté des meilleurs : Gauguin, Rodin. En matière de peinture, il appartient à la génération de ceux qui admirent les maîtres flamands et hispaniques. A partir d’août 1888, Carriès se fait potier et s’installe en Puisaye, pays gréseux à cheval sur les départements de l’Yonne et de la Nièvre, en Bourgogne. Néophyte total en arrivant à Saint-Amand-en-Puisaye, il révolutionne en moins de six ans l’esthétique et bien des techniques du grès émaillé, à la lumière des Japonais et des avancées de Sèvres et au prix d’une intuition et d’une détermination invraisemblables.
Commissaire d’expositions et auteur Free lance spécialisée dans la céramique (fin XIXe-XXIe siècles) depuis 2008, co-responsable du Salon C14-PARIS, Stéphanie Le Follic Hadida est aussi vice-Pdte de l’Académie internationale de la Céramique (AIC) et représentante de l’ONG AIC auprès de l’UNESCO.

14h « Enseigner la céramique : savoir-faire, faire savoir, faire part », par Florent Dubois
Né en 1990 à Besançon, basé à Cherbourg-en-Cotentin, où il vit, enseigne, et travaille, Florent Dubois, diplômé de l’ENSBA de Lyon, privilégie dans son travail des formes festives et débridées, et une grande générosité formelle qui se déploie sous forme de dessins, d’imprimés, d’objets, de vidéos, de céramiques, dans des displays le plus souvent exubérants. Entre imagerie touristique, et festive, ses expositions créent des univers clos entre le jardin et la boîte de nuit.
Florent Dubois présentera dans un premier temps les «coulissses de sa pratique» et la façon dont elle s’adosse àson enseignement avant de se concentrer sur des artistes qui ont enseigné la céramique, notamment dans l’école du Bauhaus (Peter Voulkos, Jacqueline Lerat, Anne Dangar, Ken Price, Valentine Schlegel…) sans distinction faite entre cursus supérieur, enfants et publics amateurs.
