VERTIMUS, bending over with a plant
We turn around, we turn upside down, we change, we swap, we transform.
Installation of performative pieces for trees and humans.

Installation following a residency at the PIAF INRAE in Clermont-Ferrand with Eric Badel, at the invitation of Studio décalé. With Emilie Pouzet and the help of Bandits Mages. This project is supported by the Carasso Foundation.

We become, we turn. Into what? Into who? Too early to say and too early to ask. The first person plural of the Latin verb (to change, to become, to turn, to revolve, to exchange, to translate, to alter, to overthrow) is, for me, the basis, like a turntable for playing old vinyl records.
Michael Marder, thesis on "becoming-plant".

Vertimus was born out of a collaboration with a team of scientists in tree ecophysiology, and more specifically the MECA unit, directed by Eric Badel. It is an installation of video and practical equipment that places the spectator's body in disequilibrium in order to bring into play perceptions similar to those of a plant. A way of dialoguing with plants through movement. Indeed, plants are in movement, they analyse and communicate information about and for their environment.
The idea here is to try to share their perception of gravity and of being anchored to the ground, by gently stimulating our inner ear. Visitors are no longer simply spectators, they are invited to enter the field of perception of the plant, while watching the film. Installed in the posture apparatus, everyone can feel the impression of loss of balance in their own body and thus imagine what a plant experiences.

As part of the Curiositas festival with the University of Paris-Saclay and La Science de l'Art with the Collectif pour la Culture en Essonne.
